Special Photo State Superintendent of Schools Richard Woods and former Memorial Middle School students, from left, Tabatha Farro, Ashanah Gayden, Cara Zheng, Imani Gunnison and Cole Nangle helped celebrate Memorial Middle School’s certification as one of only five schools in Georgia to receive the state’s certification for its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program in 2015. 
 

Memorial Middle School was awarded STEM certification by the Georgia Department of Education on November 2nd, 2015. Memorial Middle School also became one of only five schools in Georgia to receive the state’s certification for its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math program in 2015. In addition, Memorial Middle School became the first school to receive STEM certification in Rockdale County and the only middle school. The STEM program is broken down into 3 areas. Introduction to Environmental Science and Engineering (6th grade), Citizen Science & Bioengineering (7th grade), STEM College and Career Readiness (8th grade).
